7 Extremely Unfortunate Domain Names.

Before you buy a domain, think about how it looks on the web. And if you want to know why, check out these web administrators that learnt the hard way (or perhaps it’s a sense of humor on display?)

Is this Cumbria Storage Systems or something that’s (err) entirely different?

Two of these are intentional. Mammoth Erection and Cumming First. The domain isn’t a mistake. It’s just the name of the site. They don’t belong in this list, frankly.

Thanks for your comment. I agree they are intentional. What makes them amusing is that they have the potential to mean something other than what is intended! Have a great day.

Great list. I always thought www.expertsexchange.com was pretty good too! It looks like they’ve since abandoned that domain and went with a hyphenated version instead…perhaps the ones above could learn from them?

Yeah, I checked that out. Someone must have decided to pull the plug. Can’t imagine why. LOL.

I love things like this. I really tried to think about what I wanted for a business name and website when I named my company, and took this into consideration from other articles like this one!

Thanks for your comment. Somebody else thought some of these were deliberate – maybe the webmasters have a sense of humor!

These things don’t always happen online. A certain marketing team thought they’d come up with sexy nomenclature that would make customers forget their disappointment with the previous product line. “XP8″ looked great on paper, but spoken aloud it screamed “ex-pi-ate.”

Donald Trump must have abandoned it, but at one point he had www.gotrump.com. Of course, I’m sure today he’d deny ever even knowing about it.
